Before signing an Employment Agreement or an Offer of Continuing Employment, you should obtain legal advice in order to fully understand the legal implications of such agreements. The commencement of  new employment and/or a promotion is an exciting time. Often employees do not ask for time to fully review the agreement and/or seek independent legal advice before executing it.  You should exercise caution as some agreements contain clauses that may limit your rights and remedies upon dismissal, even if you have been employed for a long period of time.

Do not hesitate to:

  1. ask your employer for some time to carefully and attentively review your Employment Agreement or Offer of Continuing Employment before you sign it; and
  2. Obtain independent legal advice from an experienced lawyer in Employment Law.
